Introduction:

Helping students to improve their English in a fun and laid back setting!

Hello!

My name is Nicole and I am originally from New York, in the USA. I have my bachelors degree in Elementary Education and I am currently working on my Masters degree in Special Education. My greatest interest is in traveling to new countries which has allowed me to see the importance of learning a second language. I began studying Spanish when I was about 13 years old and it was then that I realized how important it is to practice with a native speaker if you want to learn to speak fluently. I have always had a passion for teaching and I am so excited for the opportunity to help you improve your english skills in a way that is specific to your needs and learning style! I can't wait to get started and hope you will enjoy working with me!

Teaching Specialty:

Everyday English › General

Conversational english is a great place to start on your journey to becoming fluent. In the "free conversation" format, we will most likely spend a lot of our lesson time practicing in this area. After our introductions, I can adjust the difficulty of our conversation based on your level of speaking and comprehension.

English Basics › Vocabulary / Useful Phrases

During our conversations, I will strive to use vocabulary that is both at your level of comprehension and a little bit beyond, so that you can build your vocabulary and practice using new words in conversation. I encourage my students to stop and ask me about any new or unfamiliar words or phrases that may come up so that I can explain them further.

English Basics › Pronunciation / Phonics

Pronunciation is probably the most difficult aspect of mastering any new language as there are several sounds that may be uncommon in your native language. I can make in the moment pronunciation corrections or if you prefer, I can note them in then Skype chat box so we can discuss at the end of our lesson.

Topics › Discussion

If there is a certain topic you would like to discuss we can make use of lessons provided by skimatalk or different internet articles. After reading these articles, we will go over new vocabulary and complete comprehension questions based on what we've read.
