Introduction:

I enjoy giving a lot of feedback and helping students really polish their language skills.

Hello everyone! My name is Rose and I’m a native English speaker from Australia. I lived in Canada for ten years and I now spend a lot of time in Mexico. I came to Mexico for the first time with hardly any Spanish skills, so I understand the difficulties of non-native speakers.

I have a BA (Honors) in English, and a TESOL certification. I am also a writer who has had several books of poetry published, and I work as a proofreader and editor.

I am a relaxed teacher who likes to place an emphasis on conversation, and using new grammar and new expressions in context. I make frequent corrections so that you don’t practice any bad habits. I think that people learn more quickly when discussing something that they are interested in, so I frequently use current news articles, and I encourage my students to tell me the sorts of topics they are interested in discussing.

Some of my interests are travel, photography, art, writing, literature, and current events.

I look forward to learning all about you!

Teaching Specialty:

Everyday English › Advanced

I enjoy talking with advanced students and working towards perfecting their English. I assign articles from current publications aimed an educated native speaker readership. This is really fun and rewarding for advanced students who need to be challenged.

Writing › General

I also work as a proofreader and editor, so I can help students with all types of writing.

Everyday English › Free Conversation

I encourage students to let me know what they are interested in discussing, and then I will find an article about that issue or design some discussion questions. If students don't have a preference, I will send them an article (usually a current news article), and we will discuss that. I will often send a few different choices, so students can choose the topics that most interest them.
