Introduction:

My specialties include teaching how to write and proper grammar use and having a fun conversation.

My name is Alicia Vega and I am a TEFL-certified teacher with years of experiences teaching English to young children and adults. I am from the United States but have been living abroad and loving the option to travel and see the world. I enjoy getting to know people from around the world and getting to know their culture. I have taught a wide range of subjects like natural science, history and literature, but English will always have a place in my heart. All I want is to make you feel confident and help you achieve your language goals.

Teaching Specialty:

Writing › Essay Writing

This was my favorite part about school/university. I have experience reading and revising essays of PhD students during my time as a Technical Editor at the Arizona State Museum. I have always enjoyed reading through them and discussing the positives and resolve the negatives.

English Basics › General

In my opinion, writing is the best way to practice your English and put rules to practice. Students will learn structure, context, vocabulary, grammar, and they’ll exercise their writing flow.

Topics › News Articles

As a former journalist, I am interested in News and discussing them. I have experience writing articles and analyzing them. I have a wide range of News interests from The New York Times to BBC Online to Refinery29. Pick an article that interests you and we can dive into it together.

Kids › All Ages

The majority of my experience has been with children of all ages. I have volunteered, given private lessons and organized lessons for children. Each of my young students improved their English exponentially.

Test Prep › Cambridge

My teaching experience in Spain made me familiar with the Cambridge testing style. I have provided one-on-one Cambridge test prep to people preparing for the A1-C1 exams and students preparing for A2-B2.

Everyday English › Free Conversation

Free conversation is the best way to practice your English, especially when it’s about something you’re interested in. I can hold a conversations for hours and although I have listed my interests, I’ll talk about just anything.

Everyday English › Slang

I use slang in my day-to-day conversations. I love using it and explaining to my students. It’s great keeping up with newest slang trends. It’s dope.

Everyday English › General

Learning Everyday English is practical because it’s the most common and most natural way to speak with friends, family and colleagues. I’ll teach you what you need to know when you meet someone new.

English Basics › Grammar

I love explaining grammar and then putting it to practice. Although it may seem like the most dense and dry topic, I do my best to make it fun.

English Basics › General

My last few years of ESL experience were centered around English basics. They are a great starting place for learning the language and it sets a framework for the following steps.
