I'm an alumnus of the University of Colorado in my hometown of Boulder with a B.A. in International Affairs and a study-abroad certificate from Sciences Po, the political science university of Paris. I am also a certified Early Childhood Education Professional. I love reading and writing and being outside, particularly if I can spend time with animals. I especially love to travel and would love to hear about your travel experiences. I lived in Germany for 6 months during high school I also studied in Paris, France for my 2013-2014 university school year. While I was there I worked for Eveil Bilingue teaching children English in a home environment. After graduating from university, I worked as a preschool teacher and taught the foundations of English at a toddler level in the classroom. I have also taught many adult and adolescent students one-on-one, so I can alter my instruction to fit any age level or ability.
During our lessons:
-- The way I correct mistakes is by "mimicking" your speech, meaning that I repeat the way you said something while correcting any mistakes. To allow our conversation to flow, I take notes and will give you more complete feedback at the end of each session. I will also send you detailed reviews of our lessons so that you will understand what to practice in order to improve quickly.
-- I try to speak naturally to help you learn to understand the speed, pronunciation, and phrases of native English.
-- My sharp eye for editing can be a resource for improving your written work in addition to your speaking and listening skills.
-- Let's read together! I will teach you how to understand and unpack difficult texts.
-- I will provide you with materials before and after our lessons to give you the ability to maintain and expand your knowledge by practicing outside of our lessons.
I'm excited to get to know you and help you improve your English skills! Feel free to send me a message if you would like to ask me any questions before booking your first lesson. See you soon!
I can help you prepare for interviews by teaching you helpful strategies and practicing potential questions. I will also challenge you by asking you out-of-the-box questions that you might encounter. In addition, I have studied how to correctly form a resume/CV and cover letter and am ready to help you represent your knowledge and skills effectively in order to land the interview of your dreams.
I really enjoy love public-speaking; I can help you organize your speech so that you are captivating, succinct and understandable, as well as give you tips for being more confident in front of people.
Let's role-play! You can tell me about a specific situation that you would like to prepare for, or if you prefer I will choose one which will test and improve your vocabulary and fluency skills.
I worked as a nanny for 9 years for children as young as infants and as old as 14. In 2016, I transitioned to working in a preschool as a co-teacher in a classroom of 2-3 year-old children. I love working with kids! I love to play games, sing songs and read stories in order to teach children in an organic way.
I speak naturally and use idioms and phrases to help you learn to understand them. I have developed useful methods for vocabulary-building and I will always send you a list of the new vocabulary words we learned in each session so you can continue to commit them to memory. Some things you just have to memorize, so I will help you develop fun ways to do this so you are constantly building your phrasebook.
I am a total grammar nerd! I will catch your mistakes and help you correct them, and I also love to edit your written work. Send me a homework assignment before our session and I'll be able to tailor my teaching to your specific level of knowledge.
I love writing and can help you organize your thoughts in a clear and understandable way, especially focusing on creating helpful transitions between paragraphs. I will make sure that you use diverse vocabulary in your essays to keep the reader interested. I will also catch any grammatical mistakes and help you edit. I can give you tips on the research process and how to introduce and explain quotes from outside sources.
I love reading the news, so let's read together! I will help you identify tricky phrases used in "news-talk" that are not as commonly heard in everyday speech, and I will ask probing comprehension questions to improve your understanding of the written word and boost your cultural knowledge. By reading out loud with me you will also build your vocabulary and improve your fluency. I can also read to you and help you practice your listening comprehension.
Let me help you speak like a native English-speaker! I come from Colorado and since we are located very close to the middle of the country, we speak with a very neutral accent, making it easier to understand me when you are learning. I can teach you how to achieve a neutral American-English accent so that English speakers anywhere will be able to understand you.
I have studied phonetics extensively and have a very sharp ear for accents and pronunciation. I have gathered many resources to teach you about proper pronunciation. I will even give you rules that tell you how to shape your mouth in order to pronounce specific letter combinations, when applicable.

I have worked as a nanny for several different families over the years, with children between the ages of 0 - 14. I love to care for children and teach them new things. I have worked for a company in France that specifically hired native English-speakers to work as nannies and speak only English to the children so that they could start learning the language in a natural way. Working with children has taught me so much about how to communicate non-verbally, and this has taught me vital skills to teach people whose native language I do not speak.

I worked as a ghost-editor for a book titled New Altitude. I was not credited in the book but I edited the ghost-writer's work and gave her notes before she sent the final copy to the publisher. You can check out the book here: http://www.amazon.com/New-Altitude-Beyond-Tough-Times/dp/098877030X
I teach English to students of all ages, tailoring my lessons to their personal language goals and abilities.
I worked as a co-teacher in a preschool classroom for 1.5 years at The Acorn School for Early Childhood Development in Boulder, Colorado. When I first started at the school, I worked with children from ages 0-5, and after 2 months I was placed in a classroom with 1.5-2 year-olds as a co-lead teacher. I taught the fundamentals of the English language constantly, and also gave lessons in German and French during circle time. I learned vital skills allowing me to decipher the language of youngsters, as well as communicate non-verbally.
I currently work as a content writer online. I research and produce content for a variety of individuals and organizations. I also write on the site "BlogMutt".
