Introduction:

Personalized Instruction Focusing on Pronunciation, Grammar, Writing and Smooth Conversation!

Hi there, I'm Natalya and I'm looking forward to meeting you! Language is my passion and I love to teach people new ways of communicating. I will answer questions any time you have them so feel free to send me a message. Your questions inspire me to work harder and learn more, and I love that!

My story:
I'm an alumnus of the University of Colorado in my hometown of Boulder with a B.A. in International Affairs and a study-abroad certificate from Sciences Po, the political science university of Paris. I am also a certified Early Childhood Education Professional. I love reading and writing and being outside, particularly if I can spend time with animals. I especially love to travel and would love to hear about your travel experiences. I lived in Germany for 6 months during high school I also studied in Paris, France for my 2013-2014 university school year. While I was there I worked for Eveil Bilingue teaching children English in a home environment. After graduating from university, I worked as a preschool teacher and taught the foundations of English at a toddler level in the classroom. Then, I moved to Medellin, Colombia for 6 months and taught English while I was learning Spanish.

When I returned home in 2018, I worked as an ESL teacher at a small school for Spanish-speaking adults in the Denver, CO area for 9 months, then transferred to Colorado School of English to teach ESL to international F1 students part-time and also worked as the school's office manager for 3 years. I have also taught many adult and adolescent students one-on-one, so I can alter my instruction to fit any age level or ability.

I now work as a freelance writer, a yoga teacher, and a reservation scheduler for a dog groomer in Denver, Colorado. I have taught English on SkimaTalk on and off since 2011. I have many interests and hobbies and can't wait to hear about yours!

During our lessons:
-- The way I correct mistakes is by "mimicking" your speech, meaning that I repeat the way you said something while correcting any mistakes. To allow our conversation to flow, I take notes and will give you more complete feedback at the end of each session. I will also send you detailed reviews of our lessons so that you will understand what to practice in order to improve quickly.
-- I try to speak naturally to help you learn to understand the speed, pronunciation, and phrases of native English.
-- My sharp eye for editing can be a resource for improving your written work in addition to your speaking and listening skills.
-- Let's read together! I will teach you how to understand and unpack difficult texts.
-- I will provide you with materials before and after our lessons to give you the ability to maintain and expand your knowledge by practicing outside of our lessons.

I'm excited to get to know you and help you improve your English skills! Feel free to send me a message if you would like to ask me any questions before booking your first lesson. See you soon!

By reading out loud with me you will also build your vocabulary and improve your fluency. I can also read to you and help you practice your listening comprehension.

English Basics › Accent Reduction

Let me help you speak like a native English-speaker! I come from Colorado and since we are located very close to the middle of the country, we speak with a very neutral accent, making it easier to understand me when you are learning. I can teach you how to achieve a neutral American-English accent so that English speakers anywhere will be able to understand you.

English Basics › Pronunciation / Phonics

I have studied phonetics extensively and have a very sharp ear for accents and pronunciation. I have gathered many resources to teach you about proper pronunciation. I have worked as a nanny for several different families over the years, with children between the ages of 0 - 14. I love to care for children and teach them new things. I have worked for a company in France that specifically hired native English-speakers to work as nannies and speak only English to the children so that they could start learning the language in a natural way. Working with children has taught me so much about how to communicate non-verbally, and this has taught me vital skills to teach people whose native language I do not speak.
