About Me
My name is Brayden. I was born in Australia, but for the last five years, I have been living in Santa Marta, Colombia, where I am the owner of a motorcycle tour and rental company with two of my best friends, and consider myself extremely lucky to be living my absolute dream job!
I have traveled and lived in many different countries throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas, and in 2015 I spent six months teaching afternoon English classes to a small group of doctors in Puerto Lopez, Ecuador. They were quite informal classes, but by the time I left, most of the students were able to hold a basic conversation, and best of all they were a whole lot of fun for them and for me!
I am also a qualified Physiotherapist and love to exercise, and am a big fan of adventure sports (scuba diving, rock climbing) and of course, live music and dancing!
Me as a Teacher
Your lessons with me will be relaxed, but always professional. I will be an open book, ready to adapt to your specific needs and work with you towards any language learning goals you may have (vocabulary, grammar, business, or travel scenarios).
I believe that conversation practice is the key to language acquisition and that being able to express yourself in a range of situations and on different topics should be the goal before trying for perfect grammar and accents.
I love using youtube videos, movie trailers, music videos, and written articles to add to our conversations and provide some context, which I think can help with understanding. We will choose these together though, so it will always be something cool and won't be like extra homework!
Our First Class
This is for getting to know each other and setting the foundation for what our classes and conversation practice will look like. We will talk about what goals you have for your English learning, and speak together about the best way to achieve them.
I will ask for any expectations you have of me, and also what style of learning you believe is best for you, as well as just talking about what kind of things you are interested in and want to talk about!

I enjoy role-playing job interviews or other professional scenarios with students who are looking to use English in these kinds of settings.
I have a lot of experience writing creatively for online blogs and for my own benefit and creative process, as well as for my own business. Through this, I have gained a very good understanding of the way English should be written in a professional, creative, or personal setting.
Teaching through news articles is one of my favourite things to do. Not only because it adds some context and ease of understanding to our conversations, but because it keeps us both informed and up-to-date on world events at the same time, which is important for everyday conversation in any language.
Being the owner of my own company for the last five years, I have a good understanding of how to communicate in business, and also the kind of specific vocabulary that is involved in this field.
I have many different youtube videos, music videos and movie trailers ready to go, and if you have some specific interests or areas that you want to improve your ability to express yourself in, we can work with those too.
