Teacher Gayle H's Page

My name is Gayle and I am a native English teacher from the North East of England and I’ve been living in Spain since 2004. I hold a TEFL qualification and I am also a qualified teacher with a PGCE in secondary education, specializing in teaching languages.
My teaching career began with teaching German and Spanish to secondary school students in the UK. When I moved to Spain I began teaching English and have been doing so ever since and have been teaching online for the past three years. I teach a range of students from different backgrounds with varying ages and levels and have taught groups and one to one both in the classroom and online.
The main focus of my lessons is to help students improve confidence and fluency in English as I believe that communication is key when learning a language. I don’t just focus on speaking but also help students prepare for official examinations such as Trinity and Cambridge, covering all the four skills required – reading, writing, speaking and listening.
My students say that I am fun, kind, patient and helpful and I am passionate about helping students reach their own personal goals in English. As such I use authentic materials in lessons such as current articles, podcasts, and video clips, tailoring each lesson to the individual needs and interests of the student. I am dedicated to helping students learn all aspects of their chosen language and her country and we have a lot of fun discovering the cultural parts of language learning and being exposed to real life, every day English.
Outside of the classroom I am quite an active person and love the outdoors. I enjoy yoga, hiking with my family, walking my dogs and I also love cooking, reading and music. I am currently learning to play the guitar!
