For the past 12 years I have taught scuba diving in many different countries and loved every minute.
My goal has always been to do a job I love while living in a beautiful place and, with online teaching, this goal continues to be achievable despite current restrictions. I welcome the change to an online classroom and the freedoms which remote work offers. Although my teaching experience to date has been face-to-face, I am confident that my style will easily translate to an online format.
Over my many years of teaching experience, I have taught a wide range of people, from age 8 upwards, in many different situations. This has taught me that each student-teacher relationship is unique and I am ready to adapt to suit needs. My teaching style is calm and patient, but I don’t hold back with enthusiastic encouragement!
While teaching scuba diving, a large portion of it focuses on academic subjects. I have vast experience teaching academics from entry level up to professional level, incorporating the intricacies of diving sciences such as physics, physiology, marine biology and ecology. This also means that I have wide technical and scientific vocabulary which may be of use to specific students.
I am also passionate about travel, wildlife and nature conservation, so I am well versed in these topics and am happy incorporating them into my lessons if the student wishes. I have done a lot of public speaking and am comfortable tutoring students in this area as well.
My broad skills and experience in travel and scuba diving make me a truly unique teacher, and I would be very excited about teaching on SkimaTalk.

Having travelled a lot, I have experienced many different accents and the difficulties that they present when trying to speak English. I can help overcome these and work towards more natural sounding English pronunciation.
I will help identify and correct many of the common mistakes people make while writing emails. Some that are picked up by a spell checker and many that are not.
Scuba Diving, Eco Tourism and Management. I have been working within these areas since 2000 so I am very capable of helping with associated language. Incorporated into my Scuba Diving experience, I also have a lot of marine biology knowledge, specifically within the tropics.
