Lessons based on videos, articles, and infographics
Hi! My name is Joseph. I am an English teacher with experience in teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and English for Academic Purposes (EAP). I have also worked as a freelance translator (Japanese -> English).
In my lessons, I use authentic materials like YouTube videos, academic blogs, and news articles as the focus of the lesson. We can talk about the content and analyse the language used in the text. The lesson may involve some reading or listening, but it will always be conversation-based. I also like to use Miro Board, which is an online interactive whiteboard application. I can send you a PDF overview of the lesson afterward so that you can review what we covered.

Language use changes depending on the context, and business English is a good example of that. We can do tasks and roleplays do help develop your skills based on your particular situation.
Writing emails in English can be difficult if you're used to writing them in Japanese. This is because the conventions are different. We can practice writing emails based on your context.
I can base lessons around current affairs and articles on a specific topic. These lessons can help improve your vocabulary, reading, discussion, and critical thinking skills.
How do you write an introduction? What's a thesis statement? How should you order paragraphs? What should you put in a conclusion? What shouldn't you put in a conclusion? Find answers to these and more.
As a teacher, I will try to extend your speaking ability through discussion based on your interests or topics that I choose.
I can prepare lessons based on TED Talks as well as documentaries. We can focus not only on content but also language use.
