소개:
You set your learning goals; I'm here to help you achieve them in an engaging & informational way!
Hello and welcome! My name is Stephanie, and I am a recent graduate of UC Berkeley with B.A.s in Psychology and Social Welfare. I am on the track to work in the clinical science field, and am a huge advocate of mental health treatment & awareness, as well as equity in literacy & education.
In college, I was a reading tutor for BUILD Literacy, and also have experience mentoring children as part of the Sage Mentorship Project. In the past, I have taught health education topics in the Bay Area as part of Peer Health Exchange, and have experience working in both professional office settings and guiding students at summer camps.
I am originally from South Korea, but have lived in the US for most of my life. Texas, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and now California, are among the states I have lived in and loved. I also lived in Seoul, South Korea briefly during high school, and would consider myself (at least) proficient in the Korean language.
Some of my interests include literature & creative writing, running, hiking, cooking, playing with my dog (or anyone's dog), and discovering new art and music.
Thanks for stopping by. I look forward to meeting you soon!
Teaching Specialty:
Having attended elementary, middle, and high school in the United States, and most of my friends being fellow English-speakers, I have a solid grasp on English slang (in-person and on the internet). Exploring implications, contexts, and undertones, would also be addressed.
Being a native English speaker, I can help with the phonetic breakdown of pronouncing difficult or irregular English words.
Having lived in the US almost my entire life conversational English comes naturally to me, and small talk can always be a tricky (if not awkward!) topic. Role-playing can be reviewed, and direct situational conversations may be applied as well.
Having taught elementary-age children and worked with literacy organizations and summer camps, working with children is always a joy to me. I can find ways to make learning fun and entertaining, while still engaging scholars wholly to focus on material.
I am a literature reviewer, and have written hundreds of essays in my academic career. I have experience proofreading of essays and manuscripts. Additionally grammatical review, structural advice, and prose-based concerns will be addressed.
This would include conversation skills regarding particular situations or contexts, including conflict resolution.
I grew up in the US and have over 16 years of experience with advanced English. This would include functional English skills necessary for everyday life.
This would include basic reading, speaking, listening, and writing skills.
As a native English speaker and having been educated in the American school system, I have a solid grasp on basic grammar. Grammatical practice in both professional/business and social/informal situations would be addressed.
