Introduction:

I connect with students and find ways to help them succeed on their language journey.

Hello, I’m Akilah. I’m a native English speaker from New York City in the United States. I have a Master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) as well as more than 17 years of English teaching experience. In my free time, I enjoy Zumba classes, nature walks and recently, I’ve started studying Tai Chi.

I have taught all levels of English, from complete beginners to students preparing for college. No matter where you start, we can move you forward and get you comfortable with English!

I have years of experience helping students to write their college admissions essays, study for exams, prepare for interviews and give their best during presentations. I can also help you get ready for the IELTS exam.

Our work together depends on your goals and your best learning style. If you want to practice conversation, we can talk about a current news story or movie. If you need to work on writing, we can come up with creative ways to do that. In any case, we will work on expanding your vocabulary, your comprehension, and your ability to communicate using the English language.

I love meeting new students and helping them reach their language goals! Let’s work together soon!
