Teaching English through cultural exchange.
Hello!
My name is Tamara and I am from San Francisco, California.
I have been living and teaching English to high-school students in Colombia for a year now, as well as traveling and exploring as much of Latin America as I can during my free time.
Besides travel and learning about different cultures through travel, I have a strong passion for design and the arts. Prior to coming to South America last year, I was a successful interior designer in the United States. However, the "travel bug" hit me hard and I was called to try something different with my life abroad. I have never looked back since. In doing so, I have now developed a passion for teaching English as well. I love sharing a break-through moment with my students when they truly understand something in English and to see their progress. Since communication is the key to building relationships and learning about one another, I think it is very important for us as a global community to learn another language other than our native one. I am currently learning Spanish myself and so I understand all aspects of learning a second language one must go through - from the difficulties and the joys.

I have many fun activities and topics that can be used for kids to learn English.
Back in the United States, I was a working professional in a corporate setting for over 10 years. I also ran my own business. I have a ton of knowledge to share with students on how to communicate professionally with potential employers, clients as well as in a business presentation.
I enjoy helping students advance their everyday English skills because I think it is one of the most important aspects of learning a language. I am willing to speak about any and all topics in order for students to learn new vocabulary and be able to express opinions and ideas.
