Introduction:

Teaching and Learning.

I am Brendan Pearce-Brindley, a 41 year old British former Deputy Headteacher.

I was born in Derby, England. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from The Nottingham Trent University in 2001, having read Biomedical Science, achieving a 2:1. During my studies I worked part time in a secondary school teaching small groups of pupils that inspired me to enter the teaching profession and rise to the challenge of helping young people achieve no matter the barriers to success. I went on to complete my PGCE at The University of Nottingham in 2002.

In my spare time I enjoy travelling and expanding my cultural horizons with my wife and two young children. I am a nature lover and enjoy observing animals in their natural habitats. I have had the awe inspiring privilege of swimming with a whale shark. I am also a keen musician and I enjoy teaching electronic organ playing during my spare time, as well as performing.

My first post, as a teacher of Science, was in 2002. Within four years I was second in charge of Science and then a head of a faculty of eight teachers, technicians and support staff. I introduced a new Science course that provided an exciting opportunity for many students who preferred a more practical approach to learning Science. This initiative, alongside continual development and improvement in teaching and learning, led to the percentage of students gaining C grade or higher in Science, rise from 40% in 2011 to 55% in 2012 and to 73% in 2013. On the back of my success as a Curriculum Director, I secured promotion as an Assistant Principal. Over the last two years I have picked up significantly increased responsibilities along with rigorous leadership development in the form of NPQSL and NPQH qualifications that I completed in close succession, and I was promoted to Senior Assistant Headteacher in 2016, and subsequently Deputy Headteacher.

I am passionate about increasing the life chances of our young people and overcoming barriers to learning.
