Introduction:

From casual everyday English conversation to serious academic preparation, start learning today!

I am a young, enthusiastic teacher who is passionate about teaching language and culture. When it comes to learning English I am a native speaker and certified through CELTA which is a world renowned teacher certification. It has brought me great joy to work with students from many different backgrounds while teaching at Bridge English, an American English language school for adults that offers a fun yet effective learning environment. I have experience teaching academic writing but also know how to encourage and improve students' practical speaking and listening skills. Do you need to prepare for the IELTS exam? I worked for IELTS and have taught IELTS preparation courses in the past. Whether you want a relaxed approach to language or serious study I can accommodate to your needs. Learning a new language can open up so many doors and I believe something this valuable should be positive and exciting. Feel free to book a session today!

Teaching Specialty:

English Basics › Pronunciation / Phonics

Learning the pronunciation of a new language can be difficult, especially the sounds that do not exist in your native language. I have experience helping Japanese and Spanish speakers improve their pronunciation, and I know which sounds are most difficult for them. When helping students improve their pronunciation, I focus on teaching how the sound is formed in the mouth, giving exercises to practice forming the sound, and having the student read texts out loud to practice the pronunciation in context.

Topics › Discussion

One of the best ways to learn and practice English is through context because that is how we use language in real life. We can center our class on a topic of your choice and let that topic be the context to the grammar and vocabulary we study.

Writing › Essay Writing

Writing is an excellent way to practice and improve your English skills. If you plan to attend an English-speaking university, you might also want to improve your essay writing skills to prepare for the essays you will be writing in your courses. You might also need to prepare for the essay portion of the IELTS or TOEFL exam. I have experience as a writing teacher and helping students better their academic writing in English, as well as helping students become familiar with types of essays and essay formats. I can help you edit an essay you have already written, or give you a new assignment and go step-by-step through the writing process.

Test Prep › IELTS

Whether you have taken the IELTS before or it's your first time, I will help you get the score you need! I have worked IELTS exams and am very familiar with the test. When I teach IELTS prep courses, I like to focus on the tips and tricks to getting a high score because knowing how the test works is almost as important as having good English.

English Basics › Grammar

While many people look at grammar as boring and complicated, I find grammar to be one of my favorite parts of language learning! Grammar is the guide that tells you how the parts of a language fit together. Let me help you understand grammar and show you how it can be very interesting!

Everyday English › Free Conversation

Whether you are just starting out or have been learning English for years, let's put what you are learning into practice! We will focus on improving fluency and significant mistakes that make communication difficult. This is a very relaxed and open way to practice your English.
