Teaching English to Speakers of Foreign Languages
My name is Eva. I have been teaching here at SkimaTalk since 2016 and I truly enjoy it. I am currently living in Chicago, Illinois but have lived in Greece and Japan as well. I love traveling whenever I can! Other countries I've been to include Germany, Poland, Iceland, Mexico, Canada, Jamaica, and Albania. In terms of hobbies, I really enjoy yoga, aerial arts (lyra), photography, writing (fiction), art, cooking, fitness (cardio & lifting), long walks, pop culture, and more. My favorite animals are birds, I enjoy green tea sweets, and I love the color red.
In terms of education, I majored in Japanese / International Business from "North Central College" (Naperville, Illinois) and work a day job in my field. I also have a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification as well as an ACE (American Council on Exercise) certification. Along with English, I speak Greek fluently...and I am always working to brush up on my German and Japanese. I love language learning and I completely understand the benefits and challenges that come with it.
Each class is uniquely tailored to each student. I will always have material available whether you want to practice speaking or would rather work on an article. I do my best to make our classes fun and keep our conversations natural...all while I correct you along the way. I encourage my students to do most of the speaking during our class time because utilizing the language is truly the best way to improve on it. I write all feedback in our Skype chat so that you can easily look over it whenever you need to. With that said, I am very excited and looking forward to having a lesson with you :)!
FYI: If you'd like to have a lesson with me, but you don't see a booking time that meets your schedule, please don't hesitate to message me about it and I'll see what I can open up for you!
I've taught all levels of SkimaTalk's "Role Play" classes and these are wonderful for learning new vocabulary words/phrases (and practicing making sentences with them), pronunciation, and practicing role plays in various types of situations. These classes are perfect for learning new common phrases.
Are you interviewing for a new English speaking job or an MBA in an English speaking country? We can practice necessary interview questions while I correct you along the way.
I will help reduce your accent and help you sound more like an (American) native speaker.
I've taught all levels of "Case Studies" here on SkimaTalk. This is a wonderful lesson because it combines all elements of English and you will always learn something new. If you're interested in learning new vocabulary words, and practicing your reading, comprehension, and listening skills along with having a short free discussion at the end...this is definitely your class!
Are you interested in learning some fun American English slang words? I will teach you all the modern slang words from "lit" to "GOAT" (greatest of all time)...and how you can use them correctly. This is super useful if you're really into modern American movies / shows or are living in America.
Let's have a conversation about any topic you like (and I'll correct you along the way)! One of the most effective ways to learn a language is to use it as much as you can by talking about fun and random topics such as hobbies, interests, favorite movies, favorite foods, favorite music, business, politics, etc.
It is very important to know how to put together an English sentence correctly, so let's learn about the correct usage of nouns, verbs, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, and conjunctions.
I am here to help you learn English no matter what level you're at. I have taught complete beginners along with intermediate and advanced students. I will work at your level and your pace, and teach you all the English basics (grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, and spelling) by making our classes fun and interesting.
