Hello everybody! I am a very experienced English Teacher and have worked with many, many adults and children both face-to-face and online over the last ten years. I like to make sure my classes are interesting and fun but very much focused on each of my student´s individual needs so that we make progress! I like to find out exactly why my students are learning English and what they are interested in talking about as well. I am British but have lived for many years in Spain, so I speak good Spanish. I worked as a Television Director in the UK for the BBC and many other channels for many years. When I moved to Spain I qualified as a teacher, ran my own sailing boat business and also became a writer! I have written and published two books and written articles for several newspapers and magazines. I love the English language! I also love meeting new people. On other online platforms I have taught many students from Japan and South Korea, and really enjoyed their company and their culture.
Teaching Specialty:
As a published author, freelance writer, editor and proofreader I am well qualified to assist those students needing to improve their written English. My grammar, spelling and punctuation are excellent and I have tricks up my sleeve to help with conquering the difficult spelling in the English language.
I have helped several students with IELTS exams and have books to hand to help in my home as well as experience in what is required to pass.
As a business owner myself in a country that doesn´t speak my native tongue I understand just how important it is to have confidence speaking in a second language and not making basic mistakes. I use a lot of role play in these classes.
I have had many students who need to feel more comfortable speaking, listening to and writing English in lots of different situations, and need to practice with someone who has plenty of life experience. I am happy to talk about any subject with time to research. I use BBC articles, Psychology Today articles, business articles, news articles on current affairs as well as suggesting discussions about movies, books and comedy. Some grammar and some new vocabulary will be learned each lesson from my personal resources. Normally I suggest that corrections are done every 15 minutes, so that the conversation flows.
