Hello! My name is Jess, I'm from London, England and I graduated from the University of Nottingham obtaining a degree in Spanish and Portuguese. I am currently teaching English to university students in Cali, Colombia, where I have been developing my skills as a teacher for the last two years. I love to create fun and dynamic classes, taking into account the needs and desires of the student, providing you with the necessary skills and vocabulary to express yourself confidently and clearly. Whether it is wanting to practise conversation, perfect your grammar or prepare for an upcoming exam, we can cover anything together. Having learnt languages myself, I understand that a teacher needs to be patient and encouraging, always motivating the student to learn more or cement the skills they already have. I have taught Business English and know the key words and terms which are necessary to feel confident in any business situation, whether it is in a meeting, writing an email, negotiating a deal or giving a presentation.
Helping you learn new vocabulary and phrases to be used in everyday situations, whether it's ordering food at a restaurant, making a phone call, booking tickets for the cinema or asking for directions.
We can create classes which specialise in English basics, covering grammar and conversation, but always providing you with the tools to express yourself confidently in English in whatever situation you are in.
Grammar is very important in any language. I can help you improve your English grammar by providing you with exercises and activities. I love explaining some of the more complicated grammar tenses so it makes sense for you.
From my studies at university, I became accustomed to writing a lot. I can help with key phrases and vocabulary which always improves English writing.
I love the news and current affairs and I think learning a language through news articles is a great way to discover new and challenging vocabulary. It's also one of my favourite ways to learn a language myself!
I'll provide you with useful and appropriate phrases and vocabulary that you can use in certain situations.
