Introduction:
US Native English Teacher with 8+ years of teaching a diverse range of students EFL
Hello! My name is Kirsti and I am originally from Pennsylvania, on the east coast of the United States. I have lived in Spain for the last 8 years and absolutely LOVE living here. I spend most of my free time hiking and exploring around the country with my dog and partner (and soon enough...our newborn!) I am CELTA certified and have been teaching English as a foreign language for over 8 years now. I have taught children as young as 2 up to adults as old as 65, and every age in between! I have worked in academies, public schools, online, and in-person private classes. With that being said, I've also worked with students from all over, including: Spain (mostly), different parts of Asia, the Middle East, etc. and have taught just about every type of lesson; i.e. preparing students for Cambridge exams, grammar focused lessons, conversational classes, Montessori lessons, etc! I love getting to meet new students and developing a plan that works best for them and their specific needs and wants in their individual language learning journey. I really strive to help each learner develop a strong sense of confidence when speaking English, because for me...that's the most important part in learning a foreign language. I try my best to create fun, engaging, DIFFERENT classes that make you forget you're even in an English lesson. I hope we can work together soon!
Teaching Specialty:
I pride myself in being a good kids EFL language teacher because again, I try and make my classes as fun and engaging as possible. Kids should be learning a foreign language how they learn their mother language, and that's the method I follow when teaching kids English.
I love free conversation classes because you never know what kind of vocab, grammatical structures, pronunciation topics you'll stumble upon and after all...this is one of the biggest needs to learn a foreign language in the first place. Plus, I think these classes emphasize pronunciation and developing confidence in using the language.
For instance: we each draw a face with as much detail as possible. Then we take turns describing the picture to the other as they draw it to try and get it to look just like their own drawing. This would practice and develop vocabulary related to facial features, emotions, directional vocab, etc!
