Hi!
My names Lauren, I'm 24 and originally from Chicago, Illinois. I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Advertising and Public Relations from University of Illinois. I have a wide variety of interests, including traveling, cultural exchanges and international development.
After University I spent a year working for an international development organization in Nicaragua. It sparked my interest in international education and I am currently living in Colombia teaching English at a University here to students 18-30 years old. I love helping people explore the English language and can help you with conversational english, new vocabulary, correct pronunciation, english slang, and professional/situational english in preparation for interviews or presentations.
I am currently trying to learn Spanish myself and understand the difficulty and frustration a new language can bring. I am very understanding and always willing to help in any way I can. I think learning language should be a fun experience and would love to help you explain your interests and passions in english.
Teaching Specialty:
Before you can master any language you need to learn the slang terms and phrases native speakers use. I love to incorporate a word or phrase into all of my current lessons to help my students learn to use them naturally and understand them.
The most important thing to me as a teacher is that the student is learning how to use a language to talk about what they want to talk about and to express themselves. I am open to working on any situational contexts or discussing any kind of topic. I love to play what if with my current students to expand their vocabulary into possible situations they may not have imagined. I also am open to discussing and working on any topic.
News Articles are an awesome way to expand and improve your vocabulary. I can help you select articles that we can discuss and read together so you can ask questions along the way. It is also great to practice reading them allowed to work on pronunciation. I like to pick interesting and unique articles to keep the lesson fun.
I think one important way you can improve your English is through educational and specific discussions. This is a great way to expand vocabulary and also explore other cultural opinions. This is also a fun way to work on English as the topic of discussion can be anything you are interested in.
