Hello, my name’s Lawrence and I’m from the UK. I have over 4 years of experience teaching English as a second language in Taiwan. I love teaching because it offers me a chance to help others develop and grow. Furthermore, I really enjoy interacting with people from different cultures and listening to their thoughts and experiences. I love travelling, and have been to Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam, amongst other countries. Since I have been learning Mandarin for the last few years, I understand the challenges of learning a foreign language. As a result, I hope I can be adaptable to each student’s aims and requirements. In terms of education, I have a BA degree in History from a British university and a 140-hour TEFL certification. I can help with any area of English, it’s really up to you! I look forward to meeting you!

For students looking to move to an English-speaking country in the future, I can help with IELTS preparation, whether it be the listening, reading, writing or speaking parts of the test!
Although English grammar can be quite hard to understand, and may differ to a student’s native grammar, I believe it is the key to unlock any language. I really enjoy teaching it and I hope I can help students progress using fun and interactive methods.
I have been teaching pronunciation to young students for over 4 years, so have plenty of experience teaching individual letter sounds, blending and digraphs using fun and interesting methods.
I like to use online news articles to help progress my students’ reading ability. Furthermore, I believe they are an excellent way to delve into a new specific topic, for instance: sports, business or entertainment. News articles are also a great source of new vocabulary and grammar.
Free conversation lessons are extremely useful because they offer students a chance to talk about a topic that interests them. As a teacher, by giving feedback, I can give students confidence and freedom to express themselves!
