About me:
Hi! My name is Laura and I am a TEFL qualified English teacher from the UK. I have approximately 4 years of experience teaching students from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand online. I am a scientist and am currently studying for my Ph.D. in Medicine at the University of Leeds. I also study singing and like to sing pop music and musical theatre. Previously, I lived and studied in Edinburgh, Scotland.
I believe that having fun in classes is very important. My goal is that you feel comfortable and confident. I like to check if my students have specific goals and then work together to achieve those goals. I think 'practice makes perfect' and I try very hard to make sure my students get a lot of practice speaking, listening, reading and writing during classes with me. Throughout the class, I will also make lots of notes in the Skype chat, so that students can study these on their own.

I'm a big fan of using news articles to study English. They are perfect for reading practice; you can read alone or repeat my pronunciation. It also provides the perfect opportunity for discussion around current issues and challenge your ability with unfamiliar topics.
I am always happy to help students with any specific scenarios that they want to practice. I have previously helped students prepare for interviews, conferences, presentations and also smaller things, like going to the shops. I can provide lots of useful phrases to help you, no matter the situation.
I love getting to know my students and I think talking passionately about your interests is a great way to motivate your English study. I can type corrections or suggestions in real-time, or send after the lesson for further study. This is also a great opportunity to converse with a native speaker and practice listening skills. In addition, I enjoy sharing native phrases or expressions with students to help them improve even further.
