Introduction:

I enjoy making language learning fun and engaging with natural conversation and helpful feedback.

Hello! My name is Maggie and I am a native English speaker from the United States. Teaching is my passion and I am so excited to help students achieve their language goals and improve their English. I have dedicated my education and career to becoming a qualified, experienced teacher, and I am also bilingual in English and Spanish. I currently teach English in Chile and I taught Spanish for four years in the U.S. I truly love working with students. I believe that learning English though natural conversation and feedback is the best way to learn!

Having learned Spanish as a second language, I know how challenging it can be to learn a new language. Since I know what it feels like to be a beginner, an intermediate and advanced language student, I can easily relate to students and also know how to differentiate my lessons for each individual learning preference.

I have spent many years preparing to be an effective and worldly teacher. In college I studied Secondary Education and Spanish and received my teaching degree. I lived and studied in Mexico and Peru, where I volunteered as an English teacher in schools. After college, I taught four years as a certified Spanish Teacher in Massachusetts where I gained valuable teaching experience with high school learners. During grad school I lived and studied in Argentina, and I now have a Masters Degree in Pedagogy and in Spanish. I am currently living in Chile and love to teach online to help others across the world learn English.

I know how to engage students in a way that makes learning fun and accessible no matter what the learning preference or level. I adapt my teaching to what the student wants to achieve, whether it's conversational skills, grammar instruction, vocabulary practice, pronunciation, studying for a test, or all of the above. I look forward to meeting you!

Teaching Specialty:

Everyday English › Elementary

Through progressive and natural conversation you can learn the basics of everyday English quickly. This is the way we learned our native languages growing up and I believe it works for learners of any age. It also puts emphasis on fluency rather than grammatical perfection.

Topics › Discussion

Discussion is a great way to improve and hone language skills. When you can engage in deeper discussions about politics, health, education, economics, etc., you reach a higher level of communication and gain confidence as a speaker.

English Basics › General

I enjoy teaching all aspects of the language and can help anyone grasp the general grammar, vocabulary and phrasal concepts of the English language.
