Introduction:
I specialize in pronunciation, flow & grammar. I love connection, laughter, & beautiful words.
今日は, Hello, my name is Melody.
It would be my pleasure to help you with your conversational or business English. Lessons will be tailored to your language needs and favorite topics of conversation. You can feel comfortable and at ease with me.
I come from New Jersey in the United States. I studied Music Education in university and after I graduated in 2004, I moved to Ireland. While living there, I became a TEFL certified English teacher. I have taught over 3500 English lessons in Ireland, Japan, France, and Vietnam, both in person and online.
In Ireland, I taught international teenagers. I spent one year in Japan teaching children at an international school in Nagoya. When I moved to France I taught business English for five years, first to students in their companies in every sector all over Paris, and then as an English Coach at an IT company. We had lessons on all business topics, from small talk and email to presentations and negotiation. I even took a few trips to Vietnam to teach for several weeks in our Vietnamese branch. I love building good relationships with my students. I think that’s one of the best things about teaching.
In my last job I was a head teacher. I taught some lessons and also coached twenty other teachers on how to make their lessons more effective, more fun, and more engaging.
My teaching style is intuitive, flexible, and focused on progress. I am very easy to understand, and I am a patient and encouraging teacher. You will learn so much in each lesson because we will talk about any issues and questions that come up naturally in our conversation as we go along. My favorite things to teach are pronunciation and flow, and lessons are always enjoyable. Sometimes we talk about current events and even use songs and games.
I can help you with conversational English for everyday life or travel, business English, and writing, as I am a certified proofreader. I can also help you prepare for a test. My goal for you as an English student is for you to become confident and at ease and to really enjoy speaking another language.
To finish, I’ll tell you a little bit more about me. I love reading both fiction and nonfiction. I’m a big fan of fantasy, especially with dragons. I sing Irish folk music and jazz and I’m a printmaker and photographer. I love the arts. I also like to get outside for quiet walks in the forest.
I can’t wait to meet you and get to know you. Let's practice English together! どうぞ
Thank you. Onegaishimasu! And see you soon. Au revoir!

In addition to being an avid reader for my whole life, and therefore having an innate sense of the flow of language, I'm also a trained proofreader and can help you improve and polish your writing. If you would like to get a feel for my personal writing style and get to know more about me, you can read my new book, Meditations on Music: A Playlist of Love, Life, and Death. It is available on Amazon.
Music and IT industries. I studied music education and worked in that field for over 10 years. I worked as an English Coach for an IT company for nearly 3 years, so I am familiar with the vocabulary and lingo in that field as well.
I have experience helping both children and teenagers prepare for Cambridge English exams. I'm happy to use whichever book you are currently studying from or help you choose one adapted to your needs.
I really enjoy helping people develop their presentations and practice their presentation skills, from body language to the flow of speech to the content of powerpoint slides. I can also help you deliver a killer intro and leave a lasting impression.
