Introduction:

I help students polish their English for business and everyday conversation.

Hello everyone! My name is Rose and I’m a native English speaker from Brisbane, Australia.

I help students improve their fluency and confidence in everyday as well as business communications.

Our lessons are relaxed and supportive—I'll help you speak naturally and correct mistakes gently. Don’t worry about mistakes —they’re part of learning. :)

I focus on using new grammar and expressions in context. I make frequent corrections so that you don’t "practice "any mistakes.

I believe people learn more quickly when discussing topics they are interested in, so I frequently use business scenarios, and current news articles, and I encourage my students to tell me the sorts of topics they are interested in discussing.

I worked on the SkimaTalk platform some years ago—back when the lessons were conducted on Skype! I'm back now, after a hiatus—which means a break—and I'm looking forward to seeing new (and old I hope!) faces. :)

I look forward to meeting you!

More about me in case it's of interest:

I'm an experienced online and in-person teacher who holds a PhD in Creative Writing. I currently teach Creative Writing and Literary Studies at Griffith University in Brisbane, and online. I’ve also taught Management Communication in the Graduate Business School, and I work as an editor and proofreader.

Teaching Specialty:

Writing › Business Writing

I've taught Management Communication and have a range of resources to draw on (for example email formats, press releases, case studies, reports)—depending on the needs of the student.

Business English Basics › General

I've taught Management Communication and have a range of resources to draw on, depending on the needs of the student.

Business Skills & Knowledge › Speech

I have a variety of business scenarios to draw on, but prefer to tailor our conversations to the student's business.

Everyday English › Advanced

I enjoy talking with advanced students and working towards perfecting their English. I assign articles from current publications aimed an educated native speaker readership. This is really fun and rewarding for advanced students who need to be challenged.

Writing › General

I also work as a proofreader and editor, so I can help students with all types of writing.

Everyday English › Free Conversation

I encourage students to let me know what they are interested in discussing, and then I will find an article about that issue or design discussion questions. If students don't have a preference, I will send them an article (usually a current news article), and we will discuss that. I will often send a few different choices, so students can select the topics that most interest them.
