Hello! I am Shawn Marler, and I have lived in the Carolinas. For the past 7.5 years, I worked as a full-time summer camp director in the mountains of western North Carolina. My primary job was hiring college students and adults to work at Camp Rockmont for Boys. I recruited staff from across the United States and also in Mexico and in Europe. These experiences inspired me to complete my Teaching English as a Foreign Language certificate through the International TEFL Academy (Chicago, IL). I enjoy helping people learn English so that they can travel more confidently and also feel more comfortable when interviewing for a job in an English-speaking country. I would love to be your English teacher!
Teaching Specialty:
As a member of Toastmasters International and as an American Red Cross Instructor, I regularly practice speaking in front of groups and making presentations as well.
I love teaching grammar! I regularly fill the Grammarian role at my local club of Toastmasters International, a speaking and leadership organization. I enjoy building lessons around grammar and engaging in conversation that practices the use of a single grammatical structure.
In my previous job, I was the staffing director at a company that hired up to 250 summer staff members each year. I interviewed a great many people! Additionally, during my TEFL practicum, I tutored students in Mexico who were preparing to interview for summer jobs in the USA on the J1 cultural exchange visa.
