I'm an enthusiastic teacher with lots of experience working with different cultures and languages!
Hello! My name is Sara Valdez and I am an English teacher. I'm originally from Los Angeles, California, in the United States. I attended the University of California, Berkeley and majored in Mechanical Engineering. From there, I went on to work at a well-known USA tech corporation in the silicon valley. In 2015, I left my engineering profession to pursue my real passion and become a teacher. I obtained my TESOL certification and have begun a new career as an English teacher. I have experience working in both a classroom setting and individual sessions. My past professional experience also gives me insight on using the English language in a business environment. Please let me know how I can help you achieve your English language goals. Cheers!
I keep up-to-date on current events and world news and love having discussions about them. I save my favorite articles and enjoy sharing them with my students and having them read them out loud so they can practice their reading and pronunciation skills. After reading through the article, I like having a free conversation about the article so that we can share viewpoints and opinions. This way my students can also practice expressing themselves through speaking.
My CertTESOL training has prepared me to teach students of all levels the rules of English grammar. I am currently an English teacher to A and B level students so I have much practice with explaining the rules and structure of the English language.
Because I have experience working at a US tech corporation, I am familiar with the type of language needed in a professional environment. I can help with meeting preparations, presentation, interviews, emails, and insight on what it's like to work in a global position.
I can help you practice everyday conversations on a variety of topics, including hobbies, current events, careers, pop culture, and more!

I worked as a Materials Engineer at Intel Corporation for about 5 years. My role required me to act as a liaison between Intel's manufacturing facilities and external suppliers. I worked with business partners all over the globe and had the opportunity to travel to various locations for work, such as Israel, Ireland, and the UK.
I am currently a high school English teacher at a public school in Cali, Colombia. I work with grades 9, 10, and 11 with students of ages between 14-19.
