Hello there! My name is Tom. I am a native English speaker from the south-west of England and a CELTA qualified TESOL teacher specialising in conversation classes. I have spent the last 5 years working with students of all ages and nationalities, both in groups and individually. I enjoy nothing more than helping students of all levels achieve their goals and providing support in their journey to master the English language in a relaxed and friendly environment.
I am a currently living in Granada, Spain, where I am studying Spanish as a second language. From this, I very much understand the difficulties and frustrations of learning a new language. However I also know the amazing feeling of progressing and gaining confidence, and this is the feeling I want all of my students to feel at the end of my classes.
In addition to being a teacher, I am also a novelist and short-story writer, publishing under the name T.M Cicinski, and therefore I spend most of my time thinking deeply about the use of the English language in practice, even when I am not helping others to understand and master it.
My main aim in terms of the content of my classes is, and will always be, to give students what they want. All of my classes are created specially for each individual student, based on their desires and needs. If you need English for business, for school or university, for social general social situations, for travel or for any other reason, I can help.

Even as we advance in English, it is important that we retain, refresh and improve our use of grammatical structures, as well as learning to manipulate grammatical structures with greater fluidity in the way that native speakers often do, in order to reach the highest possible level of competence and confidence in English. I can help you with that. Whether you are just beginning your journey in English and need to work on basic grammar structures, or if you have reached great proficiency and want to keep improving, in class I will always aim to give you the support and correction you need.
I believe that conversation, especially with a native speaker, is the best way to practice and master a language. My main aim is to make my classes relaxed, interesting and enjoyable; a chance to work on grammatical errors, give suggestions, introduce new vocabulary and, most importantly, to practice, practice, practice. I generally use a wide variety of exercises and subjects for discussion in my classes, but in this, as in every aspect of my teaching, I am most interested in discussing subjects which interest you and creating exercises which help you learn the things you want or need to learn.
Conversation is one very important part of learning a new language, but writing is also hugely important, as well as being an excellent way to practice and improve. A good standard of writing can also open doors to wonderful opportunities in the future. Depending on what type of material you need to write- essays, emails, texts, business communications- as well as more general writing practice, I can help you improve and develop your skills. I will always be ready to read and mark any writing you produce outside of lesson time and give you feedback either in class or via messenger, as you prefer.
Specialist Language If you need to learn specialist vocabulary for work or for your studies, tell me what area you are interested in and I can help, whether it is business English, academic English, Medical English or any other form specialist vocabulary.
Job Interviews & Applications Job interviews or school interviews are major events in our lives and can be a source of stress, especially in a second language. I can help you practice and prepare, both with applications and interview practice, to allow you to feel confident and use your full potential.
All English speakers have their own accent. This is one of the beautiful things about the English language. However, pronunciation is definitely important for successful communication and to gain confidence. My aim is to help students improve their pronunciation and also understand better some of the more confusing pronunciations used by different types of native speakers.
