Introduction:
British Conversational English, Business English, Versant, IELTS & MBA Interviews!
Hello there! Nice to meet you!
My name is Laura, and I'm from a county called Dorset, in the South of England, currently living in Portugal.
Like you, I am learning a second language amongst the natives, so I can understand and appreciate all the difficulties that come with language learning.
I have been teaching here on SkimaTalk for many years, am passionate about teaching the English language, and thoroughly enjoy each and every one of my interactions!
I have been described as a very friendly, down-to-earth and dedicated teacher, and if it’s our first meeting, an opportunity to get to know one another in a relaxed environment, and a chance to touch upon your language goals as a way forward for our lessons.
I've helped many students achieve a variety of different goals, from IELTS test preparation, to TOEFL, Versant, and MBA Interview training, of which they have achieved high scores, followed by admissions to top business schools, such as London Business School, UCLA Anderson, Esade Business School and Chicago Booth.
I work with many intermediate, upper-intermediate to advanced students looking to really raise their levels of English, and the most satisfying part of my teaching experience is observing their improvements, and there is nothing better than seeing all of their effort, practice and dedication pay off!
Please feel free to check out some of their success stories, here on my profile page.
I very much look forward to meeting and speaking with you.
Thank you so much!

Work Experience:
Sales / Customer Support
I worked as a customer service advisor, answering telephone calls from customers who had purchased and used pharmaceutical products outsourced by the company, such as Milton Sterilising Fluid, including handling and managing customer complaints and queries and coming up with appropriate solutions to help maintain a positive relationship with the customer.
Other Professional
I started off as a customer service mortgage advisor and then an operations administrator, before being promoted to a management information analyst. I forecasted inbound call volumes within telephone operated departments for management and provided innovative and creative MI solutions to ensure a process of continuous improvement across the function. I collated and distributed MI for all group production functional areas, produced daily, weekly and monthly performance reports, and produced ad-hoc reports for management, to help maintain service levels within telephone operated departments. I also conducted presentations to call advisors new to the Q-MAX workforce management system, conducted Q-MAX system training to those seniors and managers new to Q-MAX, created training plans for new starters on the MI team and carried out the training.
Sales / Customer Support
I took a year out during this time, where I travelled around New Zealand on a working visa. I stopped in Wellington where I worked for 3 months part-time at a company called "CIGNA," as an insurance sales consultant, where I achieved “top performer,” for the month of August.
Other Professional
I collated and distributed MI for all group functional areas and company contract holders, produced daily, weekly and monthly performance reports and produced ad-hoc reports for management to help maintain service levels within telephone operated departments. I provided innovative and creative MI solutions to ensure a process of continuous improvement across the function and analysed call data and identified key areas for improvement.
