INTRODUCTION:

Hello. My name is Mac White, and I am an English teacher. I have been teaching English for more than 25 years, and for the past 3 years, I’ve been a successful and busy teacher on SkimaTalk. I can speak and read Japanese, and I often use textbooks written in both Japanese and English to teach my SkimaTalk students. There are several levels of English-speaking students on SkimaTalk.
1. Beginner Employees: The first category includes employees who are required to study English despite having great difficulties in reading and speaking. With this group, I often teach from an English grammar book. We then practice conversations using the grammar learned from the textbook.
2. Intermediate Students: This second group consists of students who may have TOEIC scores between 400 and 800. We study using Koro Neko English conversation textbooks. I read sentences in Japanese, and the student translates them into English. From there, we practice open English conversations.
3. Advanced Business People: The third category includes business professionals with high English scores, possibly 900 or higher. Although they have not lived or worked in an English-speaking country, they have strong English skills. For this group, I emphasize English conversation, focusing on casual, everyday English (nichijikaiwa), rather than formal English.
4. Fluent Professionals: The final group consists of business people with several years of experience, high scores on English tests, and the ability to express themselves fluently. With these students, I enjoy teaching slang, English phrases, idioms, and engaging in in-depth conversations. Students often choose the topics for our discussions.

Teaching methods: The Japanese English students have two big problems with English. The first is pronunciation of words that include "TH", "L" or "R", I want to work with the students to help them improve their pronunciation. The second is no one can become fluent in English without knowing English Idioms and some of the most common idioms they need to learn are; "A piece of cake", "Spill the beans", "Tip of the iceberg" and many more. The Japanese English students have two big problems with English. Teaching Specialty:

Business English Basics › General

Even in the Business departments of Japanese universities business English education empathizes grammar and written English, not spoken conversational business English. As a consequence, Japanese business people are quite good at reading and writing business English but lack the skills in speaking business English. Before Japanese business people can become good In spoken business English they must have skills in the basic spoken conversational English. Now, the good news is that there are so many very good textbooks for business conversational English in book stores in Japan.
