Introduction:

Friendly, qualified and professional English teacher, specialising in free conversation.

Hello, my name is Wendy and I am a CELTA-trained native speaker from the South West of England. I have been teaching English as a Foreign Language for seven years, and have taught students from all over the globe.

My experience has been, for the most part, classroom based - though I also have extensive experience teaching one-to-one. I have taught in the UK (2011-2012), Greece (2012-2013), China (2013), Vietnam (2013-2014) and Ecuador (2015-2016), so I appreciate the way that different cultures produce different learners. We are all individuals, and it's my job to establish what kind of learning styles suit YOU.

I am passionate about teaching, and my knowledge of linguistics and phonology is very strong. I am currently studying at the University of St Mark and St John in Plymouth, and will qualify as a Speech and Language Therapist on completion of my degree. This means I am well equipped with exercises and activities to improve your pronunciation, and with it, your fluidity of speech.

I have also taught academic writing to pre-university students, and can help you with your written ability if this is the area that you would like to focus on.

Last year I taught on the TKT (Teacher Knowledge Test) course, and delivered teacher training to non-native English teachers. I have also delivered exam prep courses for the IELTS and FCE exams, so I can help you with these if you like.

My previous students would say that I am incredibly friendly and approachable. If you have a question, I will always have time to answer it (and if you have ten, as a student in one of my classes always seems to, then I will do my best to answer them all!)

I'm really looking forward to meeting you, and I hope to help you along on your journey towards better English!
