時間を忘れるほど勉強を楽しく。Making learning effortless.
Hello there! Please call me Anna. I come from San Francisco, California. My roots are Jewish-European. I’ve lived in different countries such as in Russia and Japan. At the moment, I’m permanently residing in Shikoku. My hobbies are drawing, listening to podcasts(This American Life, Freakonomics, Joe Rogan Podcast, etc), and learning languages. I’m focusing on Korean and Spanish right now.
I’m an artistic person so my teaching style is spontaneous and creative. In the lessons, I tend to draw on the whiteboard and use visuals. I often gamify exercises to make them fun.
Every lesson is unique and catered to each student’s level. I like to experiment with different kinds of exercises and materials so nothing is off the table!
I specialize in explaining cultural differences/nuances between words, preparing students for job interviews/presentations/speeches, translating phrases to fit the context (such as in a business email), improving pronunciation(American-English), showing how to use American slang, improving confidence, and spotting weak points that need to be worked on.
I believe that teachers should improve along with the students so I’m constantly working on my teaching skills and looking for ways to make the lessons more effective. Any feedback is always appreciated.
I know first-hand how excruciatingly hard it can be to learn a completely different language and culture, therefore it would be an honor for me to be a part of your language journey and help you reach the destination(goal) you are headed for.
Watching videos (generally summarizing and discussing the content), introducing natural and useful vocabulary for everyday conversation, discussing and debating topics(news, statements, etc), talking about the major linguistic differences between English and Japanese, going over common mistakes made by Japanese students, practicing tongue twisters in order to improve articulation and pronunciation in English, etc.
