Hello!  My name is Marisa. I am a native English speaker from London, England. I also speak Spanish fluently, so I fully understand the differences and challenges of learning a new language.
There are several teachers in my family and I began teaching English over 15 years ago at my mother's private English School. The ages of students ranged from young children up to adults, so I am happy to teach all ages.
I currently live in Peru, in the valleys and mountains of Cusco, where I give private and group English lessons to children, as well as school/college students and adults.
In my free time I enjoy walking in the beautiful nature where I live, spending time with friends and family, painting and reading. I love music and play a few musical instruments which is a passion for me.
My approach to teaching is to involve students from the very beginning without pressurising them, and to gradually build their confidence and enthusiasm to express themselves in the target language.
I adapt my lessons to suit each individual student depending on their level of English and what they want to achieve. I include a wide range of materials and focus the style of my teaching around the needs of the student.
I believe a successful teacher should possess certain qualities, for example patience, flexibility, creativity and imagination. They should be able to explain grammar concepts and vocabulary very clearly, and give a good range of examples to help students overcome any difficulties.
I always encourage my students to play an active part which is absolutely necessary to make real progress. I aim to get to know my students in a friendly way so we can cover topics that they enjoy, this helps to stimulate their interest in the English language and learn quickly.
I feel great satisfaction in seeing my students progress and become confident in their new language. It's so rewarding to know I can help make this difference.
