My specialties include everyday English, natural conversation and expressions, and TOEFL prep.
Hello! I'm Melissa, and I would love to meet you and help you practice and improve your English. I am currently working as an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teacher at a university in Medellín, Colombia. I graduated from the University of Oregon in 2016 with a Bachelor's degree in journalism and public relations, earned my TEFL certificate and moved to Colombia shortly after graduating. I've been teaching with my university, Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, for two years now, and teaching is one of my biggest passions. I'm also now pursuing a Master's degree in education. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, cooking, exercise, and being creative.
Regarding classes, I'm available for free conversation classes if you'd like to simply have a fun conversation or more structured classes if you would like some extra guidance on a particular topic. We can choose an article or particular grammar aspect, or I can help with projects, presentations, etc. I've worked with students of all ability levels, from A1 to C2. I've also helped students prepare for the IELTS and the TOEFL. I am excited to learn about you and help you with whatever you may need. Let's learn English and have fun at the same time! I look forward to meeting you.
I currently teach TOEFL and IELTS test prep strategies at my school. I am familiar with the format of the exams and enjoy helping students prepare for the speaking portion of the exam specifically.
I love to have rich and interesting conversations, and I have taught the English conversation club at my university as well.
I have taught the most advanced level of English my university offers and have significant experience working with this level. I enjoy exploring in detail difficult rules and grammar concepts.
