Hi :) My name is Natalie Odilo OP (the OP is not pronounced). I live in Iowa City, in the state of Iowa, in what is known as the Midwest region of the US. Iowa City is about 350 kilometers, or 200 miles directly west of Chicago.
I'm a cheerful and talkative mom. I enjoy cooking, reading and movies. I also enjoy sewing, crochet, embroidery, bead work and other crafts. I especially enjoy meeting new people and teaching. I would love to help you learn to speak well and to listen well. I would also enjoy working with you to improve your skill at reading and writing English and with general conversation and pronunciation.
I've had success with students who wanted to improve their pronunciation. Common difficulties are with the /l/, /r/, /v/, and /w/ sounds. I have a lesson plan that will help you improve your pronunciation by using conversation and video with transcripts.
I will provide detailed written feedback for any writing exercise or essay that you would like to have reviewed.
I will customize each lesson by choosing material that is specific to your interests, your goals and to your job, so each lesson will be enjoyable and helpful in your work goals.
My professional background is in Software Engineering. I have written software for research in Biology, Genetics and processing of medical images. With my technical background I'm comfortable talking with professionals in science, medicine and engineering and would like to help you improve word choice and grammar in your manuscripts for publication in scientific journals. I'm always happy to see the professors who return to work with me when they are ready to publish.

I customize lessons for each student, using a combination of written material, video and conversation to meet each student's goals. I tend to speak quickly, so advanced students appreciate this exercise of their listening and speaking ability in free conversation. I will talk with you about any topic that is of interest to you. I will also find material to read together that is directly related to your interests or your work, to help you learn technical or business vocabulary. I've also helped many students practice answering questions to prepare for interviews.
I will provide detailed written feedback for any writing exercise or essay that you would like to have reviewed. I will provide an explanation for each correction, to help you learn good word choice and to remove grammatical errors from your writing. I have an extensive background, reading and editing manuscripts for publication in research journals. I can review and edit your manuscripts, with a reasonable understanding of the technical basis of your work. I work with several professors who return to work with me when they're ready to publish.
