Hi I’m Teresa, I was a director of a small company in the UK. I retrained with Cambridge University as an English Teacher many years ago (CELTA), and I’ve taught 100s of students. I now live in Africa and am currently studying for my DELTA, a Masters Level qualification from Cambridge University in teaching English. Thank you for your interest in my profile.
I make lessons enjoyable, although my focus is on helping you make progress. I am especially interested in how we learn, because by building autonomy, or independent learning skills, you can make the best use of the time you have to study, and make faster progress.
Being able to build you a customized curriculum is a huge advantage of 1-2-1 lessons. It is your choice, but if you decide to, we can spend 5-10 minutes in our first lesson talking about your experience in learning English so far, what you find hard, and what you want to improve on. I will make a study plan for you for the next few lessons Of course, feel free to send me a message with this information, which will save time in the lesson. On the other hand, you may already know what you want and have a plan for our lesson.
What to expect:
Enjoyable and relaxed lessons.
Feel motivated to come to class, comfortable to try new things, make mistakes and ask questions. Have training in practical and effective self-study activities. I have lots of professional lesson material available. I have also created my own material to help with Conversation Skills and IELTS Writing and Speaking exams.
A personal learning plan - if you choose this option.
You have the option for me to write you a 4 week learning plan after our first lesson. We can discuss how you learn best, how time you have outside of lessons to study, what your goals are, and any other information you think would be useful for me to know.

I love teaching and seeing my students progress. I am currently doing a DELTA with Cambridge University. This is a Masters level qualification, to improve my teaching even more. I love finding out about new ideas and research to improve my lessons.
IELTS Writing and Speaking
I have passed teacher training programs run by Cambridge University and IDP for IELTS preparation, and have helped 100s of students with their exam preparation. I will help you improve your speaking and writing skills so you can deal with any subject in the exam. We look at strategies and skills including how to plan your writing to save you time and reach a higher band score, and how to answer questions on subjects you are not familiar with. We also look in detail at what the examiner is looking for in the Speaking and Writing parts of the exam, and how you use this information to make the best use of your time in the exam.

I have lots of speaking lessons, which means we talk about a variety of topics and improve your vocabulary. I will keep the conversation going, and also, if it is what you want, teach you conversation skills so you can improve starting and continuing conversations.
I have a CELTA certificate and I'm currently a DELTA candidate, this is a Masters level teaching Diploma from Cambridge University. I work hard to find material that will help you reach your goals, while having enjoyable and relaxing lessons. I am really interested in finding effective and short activities you can do daily that will help you progress in improving your English.
I have completed Teacher Training from Cambridge University, as well as Teacher Training with IDP in Australia. I have helped 100's of students prepare for IELTS, particularly the speaking exam. I have lots of Mock Tests and Exercises to help you. I aim to work out what where you can make the most improve and focus on that area, continually assessing to make sure we make best use of the time you have available before your test.
