Hello! My name is Karen, and I am a TESOL/TEFL certified English teacher from the United States. I have been teaching English for over nine years to students of all ages in Japan, Vietnam, China, and the US. Currently, I live in Portugal, but I have lived all over Asia, Europe, and North America.
My first experience with teaching English was in the JET Program in Nagoya, Japan. I taught hundreds of students at three different high schools, and I learned a lot from them as well. It was an amazing experience that really taught me how much I love teaching. In fact, one of the greatest compliments I ever received was from a professor who told me that I was "a born teacher."
My classes are friendly and fun, but I also make sure to focus on correct grammar, clear pronunciation, and vocabulary building. I want to give you the tools necessary to increase your English ability and succeed in reaching your goals. I'm looking forward to seeing you in the classroom!
My years of experience working in city government, finance, retail, and non-profit organizations have given me the skills and know-how to improve your business English.
Accent reduction is one of my specialties -- I can teach you the correct sounds and mouth positions necessary to be easily understood and sound more like a native speaker.
TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, Versant, and more -- let's work together to improve your score.
I can help with presentations, speeches, and other types of public speaking. You can speak with confidence!
The world is your oyster! Tell me your interests or areas you would like to focus on, and let's discuss.
