Hello! My name is Laura, and I am an ESL tutor with 500 hours of classroom experience with elementary school students using an online platform. During the day, I am a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Because I love teaching and languages, I am also freelancing as an ESL tutor! In a previous role during my time as an undergraduate student, I instructed children in China online in English conversation, grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening, reading, and writing in virtual classes of 3-6 using Jiuqu English’s interactive curriculum. I also have experience leading adult ESL classes for adults at Literacy Volunteers of Greater Hartford, a non-profit organization in Hartford, Connecticut, United States. In addition to ESL teaching, I have two years of experience as a graduate teaching assistant to undergraduate students in molecular biology, genetics, and evolutionary biology at the University of Toronto. I studied Mandarin Chinese during my bachelor's degree, which has helped me communicate better with Chinese-speaking students. I am looking forward to meeting you and learning together!
