I am an energetic and enthusiastic teacher who cares about each of my students. I believe that learning doesn’t have to be boring to be effective, even when teaching adults. I look for creative ways to make learning fun and interesting and keep my students engaged. I like to build relationships with my students in order to make them feel valued and important. Getting to know my students also allows me to adapt lesson plans to center around things they are interested in, which leads to better attention and understanding.

Before I was an English teacher, I was both a lawyer and a law professor, with years of experience in the areas of business and tax law. During my legal career, the thing that I am most proud of is the people I have helped. To succeed as a lawyer and as a law professor, you must be a good listener, be patient, and be a problem-solver. You must be organized and prepared, but also be flexible and able to adapt when plans fall apart. Using these skills, I have helped people start new businesses, provided advice on compliance with laws, negotiated contracts on behalf of corporate clients, and helped law students understand difficult material. I now look forward to using these skills to help my clients on SkimaTalk.
