I strive to help students grow confident in their English abilities and have fun while doing so!
初めまして！スティーヴンです。It's nice to meet you! My name is Steven. I am a native English speaker currently living in the Japan, and I speak Japanese as well. I've helped Japanese speakers of multiple ages learn and practice English in Japan as well as in America. Different people learn in different ways, so it's my pleasure to tailor a lesson specifically to your learning style! An interesting fact about myself is that in addition to teaching, I'm also a filmmaker and scriptwriter. In October of 2016, I directed a full-length movie featuring three Japanese actors as lead characters. Their characters spoke both Japanese and English, and I studied with them for hours to help perfect their English-language dialogue. An incredibly fun and rewarding experience!
Teaching Specialty:
As a screenwriter and actor, I've enjoyed the art of writing and speaking English more than most other English natives! As someone whose spent nearly three years learning Japanese, and has taught English to a diverse range of Japanese students, I thoroughly understand the process of learning language. Whatever your English needs may be, I can help you!
I'm a screenwriter with lots of writing experience. I've written a 112 page screenplay (11 separate drafts!) that was produced as a SAG-AFTRA feature film, and screenwriting was one of my thesis projects in college. I know English grammar like the back of my hand, and I can help students learn in a way that's easy to comprehend.
I've worked with Japanese actors developing techniques for accent reduction to deliver English-language lines. In particular, "l," "r," and "th" sounds frequently prove difficult for Japanese speakers. I can help students with proper tongue and mouth movement to achieve flawless English pronunciation.
