Hello, my name is Laura and I'm from the south of England. My mother was from the UK and my father, from Sicily. I've been teaching English here on Skima Talk for 5 years now and like you, I am learning a new language as well. Since I moved to Portugal a few years ago, I'm still learning the language amongst the natives.
You can expect a relaxed atmosphere and if it's our first meeting, an opportunity to assess your goals and get to know one another. Future lessons will then be based around your learning goals and I will do my best in helping you to achieve them. I always come prepared for every lesson and include notes in Skype, for your review.
I very much look forward to meeting and speaking with you, helping you to achieve your language goals and helping you to feel more comfortable speaking English.

I took a year out during this time, where I decided to travel to New Zealand on a working visa. I traveled a little around the North Island, by Kiwi Experience, of which I visited various places, including the Bay of Islands, Wanaka, Rotorua and ended up in Wellington, where I worked for 3 months part-time, as an Insurance Sales Consultant. I then continued the Kiwi Experience around the South Island, visiting Nelson, Abel Tasman National Park, where I did a half-day kayak and hike, Franz Josef Glacier, where I did a half-day glacier trek and a helicopter flight with a snow landing, Queenstown, of which I did a tandem paraglide off of Coronet Peak and then Christchurch. I then went to Melbourne, Australia where I spent 6 weeks over Christmas and New Year, and finally, a month in Thailand, where I visited various places, including Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Ko Pha Ngan. An experience I will never forget!
