Teaching English from beginner to IELTS, as well as Business and Technical English.
Hi, my name’s Simon and I’m from the UK. I’ve been teaching English, online to Japanese students for over 5 years and before that I worked in Saudi Arabia for 7 years teaching English in a technical college in Riyadh.
Over the 5 years I’ve been working for Skimatalk, I have spoken to a wide variety of Japanese students, from beginners to advanced; students preparing for IELTS/TOEFL; interviews for graduate schools; or just conversation practice to improve or maintain their current level.
I’m also familiar with the Versant English speaking test and EIKEN and can help you improve your score or help you prepare for taking the EIKEN exam up to level 1.
I’m very interested in Japan, both the people and its culture and I keep up to date with current news, and I’m always interested in talking about anything relating to the country, culture, or current affairs.
I understand the problems Japanese speakers have with English and I can help with pronunciation, fluency, grammar and vocabulary where necessary.
Learning or improving your English should be enjoyable, and so I try to encourage a relaxed learning style to help you improve your confidence in speaking English whether you are just setting out or already at a high level which you want to maintain or improve.
Teaching Specialty:
Most of my lessons are free conversation, where I can conduct a question-and-answer session for you to practice your English, or we can speak about a prearranged topic.
I have resources to assist you to prepare for the TOEFL speaking exam, specifically tasks 2, 3, 4, and 6 with practice lectures, conversations, and readings.
I am familiar with the Versant speaking test and EIKEN
I have had training in interview techniques, and I have taught English for interviews both online, and in a classroom environment.
I have taught a lot of Japanese students in this area, where lessons focus on pronunciation, and more natural speaking.
Taught presentation skills to military officers in Saudi Arabia.
Taught general English to business and post graduate students in Riyadh. Post graduate Air Force Technicians and other military in Riyadh. Business employees in companies in Bangkok.

AETG (Arabian Education and Training Group) are a Saudi based company who supply teachers for private, corporate, and military contractors. I worked with BAE (British Aerospace) teaching officers of the Saudi Air Force using an American military syllabus called DLI ALC (Defence Language Institute, American Language Course) which covered general and technical English to upper intermediate level.
Teaching Professional
Pro-Language are an adult English language school situated in Bangkok, Thailand. I worked as an English language teacher responsible for teaching corporate clients in and around the Bangkok area. I also taught classes both group and one2one in the school from pre-intermediate level to IELTS preparation.
